Outpatient clinic

The Outpatient Clinic operates as the ambulatory division of the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID), providing the following services:

 

  • Dispensary follow-up of patients living with HIV,
  • Antiretroviral (ARV) therapy for adults and children living with HIV,
  • Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV,
  • Post-exposure and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV,
  • Outpatient treatment and prevention of opportunistic infections,
  • Management of patients co-infected with HIV/TB, HIV/hepatitis B, and HIV/hepatitis C,
  • Prescription of isoniazid preventive therapy for tuberculosis by a TB specialists for indicated HIV-positive patients,
  • Vaccination of HIV-positive patients against hepatitis B,
  • Referral of HIV-positive patients to other medical institutions when necessary,
  • TB specialist consultation for tuberculosis diagnosis,
  • Infectious disease specialist consultation,
  • Family physician consultation,
  • Consultation, laboratory and instrumental examination, and, when necessary, antiviral treatment for patients with chronic viral hepatitis,
  • Treatment of patients with hepatitis C using direct-acting antiviral drugs within the framework of the state program,
  • Instrumental diagnostic services including X-ray examination, ultrasound, and liver elastography,
  • Clinical psychologist consultation,
  • Psychodiagnostic assessment.

 

The Outpatient Clinic staff includes both young physicians and highly experienced specialists. Throughout the Center’s operation, they have regularly participated in international meetings, workshops, and conferences on HIV/AIDS, representing Armenia’s experience in the field and presenting oral and poster reports.

The specialists of the Outpatient Clinic are also involved in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols, collaborate with various medical institutions, and provide methodological and practical support on the treatment and care of patients living with HIV.
