
The Adult Infectious Diseases Department of the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) is one of the largest specialized departments in Armenia providing medical care to adult patients with infectious diseases.
Here, patients with acute and chronic infectious conditions receive both outpatient and inpatient treatment in accordance with internationally accepted standards of medical care and patient management. The department admits patients referred from primary healthcare facilities or other specialized medical centers, as well as those brought in by emergency services or self-referred due to complications arising from infectious diseases that require inpatient care under specialist supervision.

The department includes isolation wards designed to ensure complete separation of patients with infectious pathologies to prevent further spread of infection. From the moment of admission until discharge, these patients remain isolated from others with different infectious conditions.
The Adult Infectious Diseases Department serves as a clinical training base for the Chairs of Infectious Diseases of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi and the National Institute of Health named after S. Kh. Avdalbekyan.
Continuous efforts are made within the department to improve the quality of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Detailed analyses are conducted on the clinical course of diseases caused by various pathogens, and optimal treatment methods and regimens are developed based on the etiology, severity, stage of the disease, and accompanying pathological conditions.
The department’s staff includes both highly experienced infectious disease specialists and younger physicians who are eager to continuously enhance their knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
